Legislation in the European Community and Slovenia

Basic Council Directive 91/414/EEC concerning the placing of plant protection products ( PPP ) has introduced a more centralised evaluation and registration of active substances ( AS ). According to its assesment the AS is included in Annex I to the Directive or not.
AS is approved if the extensive list of documents and studies is completed (in the light of current scientific and technical knowledge) in a satisfactory manner and in accordance with the requirements and principles of the EU body (physical – chemical properties, analytical methods, toxicological studies and studies of metabolism, efficiency, residues, fate and behavior in the environment, ecotoxicological studies, classification and labeling in accordance with the directives).
Copper Oxychloride ( COC ) is evaluated as a positive AS, which means that all of PPP (which includes COC) in the European Union territory can be successfully registered.
A very complex European legislation ( including the new Regulation No. 1107/2009 ) is legally binding and directly applicable on all of its Member States.
European legislation is incorporated into Slovenian legal system under the Act of PPP and other Regulatory Acts.

Use of AS – Copper Oxychloride

AS is used for PPP in its original form (in which it is delivered to user). Its purpose is to protect plants against harmful organisms or to prevent  the activity of such organisms in the open-air, and for the purpose of use in greenhouses.
In Cinkarna Celje we produce copper fungicides with AS – copper oxychloride in the form of wettable powder ( WP ): Cuprablau Z and Cuprablau Z Ultra.
In 2012, we will launch the production of copper fungicides in the form of water dispersible granules (WDG ), which will be more user-friendly (with lower levels of dust produced during its application ).
