Copper oxychloride is an inorganic salt registered in accordance with Regulation (ES) No. 1907/2006 of the European parliament and of the Council concerning the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals (REACH) and establishing a European chemicals agency (ECHA).

European chemicals agency is responsible for implementation of the Regulation REACH. Regulation enters in to force on 1st June 2007.

The REACH legislation is the primary chemical legislation in force in the entire EU area and it concerning the registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction of chemicals. Under the uniform system, for the registration, evaluation and authorization of chemicals, producers have to demonstrate to ECHA how the substance can be safely used throughout the production chain, and they must communicate the risk management measures to the users.

Copper oxychloride [Cu2(OH)3Cl] is in the form of a fine green powder. It is very stable and practically insoluble in water and organic solvents.
